My current life assessment

Loving kindness meditation is a great tool for replacing negative feelings in one’s life with positive emotions. Whether an individual realizes it or not, they possess loving kindness within themselves. In order to replace negative emotions with positive emotions one must first learn to harness the loving kindness within themselves. I always tell people to imagine a blissful sleeping newborn baby or puppy, to acknowledge the love and kindness they may feel for this newborn or puppy. Then to harness this feeling that lives with themselves to replace negative emotions in time of need.

I have been utilizing loving kindness when I get migraines because if I practice loving kindness my headache lessens. This practice is sometimes difficult to achieve when my brain hurts really bad but will always lessen the pain. Even if it is just a little bit of ease, it is enough to help. Because of my constant migraines, life has been very trialing lately but meditation helps. I have slacked on my work outs and social life because of the daze and fatigue caused by my migraines. When assessing my life I feel I am lacking in these areas and I am trying to figure out how to strengthen these aspects of my life without overdoing it physically. I can only do so much or my condition worsens.

I have decided that I need to replace my extreme hiking routine with light hiking activities. So instead of giving it up completely I simply need to partake in shorter less strenuous hikes. I also have starting replacing my weightlifting with tia chi and yoga to insure that I still partake in daily exercise. There is not too much I can do about my social life currently because I never know when my migraines are going to strike. I will however invite my friends on my short hikes so I can benefit from walking in nature and socializing at the same time.

  1. Hi Niki,
You blog is so beautiful with the colors and pictures. I love the visual of the baby or puppy. This is a great visual to express love, kidness and compassion. Great Blog!

  2. Thank you Nancy. I love this theme with the bird silhouettes on the olive green background. I love the visual of the baby as well, it is easy for anyone to find love and kindness towards something so helpless and pure. I use this concept when I first discuss loving kindness with people instead of having then find their own loving kindness thought. Unfortunately, so many of us have too much anger to find happiness in ourselves at first.

  3. Great examples Niki! I agree that everyone has peaceful and positive emotions no matter what, some people just cover them up. If they can open up they could live a much healthier life. I have also been using these practices, mainly when I get stressed. They help out a lot! For exercise, do you ever swim? It is a great full-body workout and I think it is fun. Great blog.
